New Things

On 10/21/2010 I walked to where this shop is set up and bought this food on a stick and this soda at a vending machine, it says white soda in Japanese. The soda was tasty. Then that night I tried some tacoyaki. It was really good. On 10/26/2010, some people from the international dorm invited me to go to this curry shop with them. The food was really spicy. I ordered this curry that also had a big scrambled egg on top of it. On 10/29/2010, a group from the international house decided to go for sushi and I went along with them. The shop was neat. Our group sat down at a table which are all next to conveyer belts with various different kinds of sushi and food on it. I think it was very neat that you got to see the food and take it right there as it came by you. The sushi was good. The sushi that also had natto on it was really good. I thought the mascot for this sushi store was pretty neat too.

Nagoya

This past weekend, Nagoya was holding their annual celebration, Nagoya Matsuri, so I thought that this would be a good time to make the trip. I thought Nagoya was big. I first visited Nagoya Castle, which was amazing. It is impressive the size of the site. In Nagoya castle was a tea house which was interesting to see. After spending some time here, I walked to Nagoya TV Tower. Around this tower was a local festival which was being held for this annual celebration. Across the street was Oasis 21, the design of this mall is really neat. The whole mall is underground. It is in this place that I found a Pokémon store, an Anime store, as well as a Studio Ghibli store dedicated to the anime created by Hao Miyazaki, among other stores. The items were neat to see. On this day there where many special events being held at this mall which was also interesting to see. On top of the mall was a huge pool with colorful designs in it. The next thing I saw was this outdoor shopping area a few minutes from Oasis 21. Each entrance had a different design and their where many various kinds of shops in this area. After seeing the shops, I walked back to where the parade was to be held. It was an impressive sight to behold. It had many people dressed in colorful costume. People were dressed as ninja, samurai as well as other characters. I think that the parade floats where impressive. After the parade ended I walked back to the train station, got on the train, and went back to AUE.

Beef Bowl

An interesting thing happened on the night of 10/14/2010. Some students from this club that works with international students came to the international house. Then the group, including me, that these students gathered together all went to this community center near the school. The event they created was to let us create ぎゅうどん. They spit the people who came into two teams. I was on Team A. It was really interesting as well as it was a lot of fun getting to make this food. Everyone, in addition to eating the beef bowl, ate some soup and got to drink some tea. The end result, It was really delicious.
