Nagano

A teacher invited me to go to her home in Nagano for the weekend with her husband. The ride up there was kind of long but I saw many interesting mountains and scenery. I also got to see the Japanese Alps which were impressive. The first night we went to an Onsen and after that ate dinner. The food was really good. After that I prepared for skiing the next day.

In the morning the husband of the teacher and I went skiing and stayed there pretty much the whole day. It was at first kind of hard to walk and falling down was constant. After a little while though, I was able to start moving faster and started to Ski better. The food was good at the ski place. I ate beef curry.  An interesting thing was getting to ride the ski lift to the top of one of the mountains and come down by skiing. That night I got to go to an Onsen after dinner.

The next day, I improved a lot. I went for great periods of time with out falling. I practiced some more and then did some more skiing. I also got to ride the ski lift to the top of the highest mountain and from there was able to see some amazing views of the environment. The food for lunch was really good as well.

On the last day I got to go to a nearby mall that is well known. There were lots of shops there with names I have never heard of before as well as shops whose names I have heard. After a while we left and as we where going back to their house I was shown lots of very big houses that people have built up there which was interesting to see. I walked around their neighborhood some more which was nice. After a little while we all returned to Nagoya. As we were going back to Nagoya, we had lunch at a noodle shop.

School Visit to Gamagori

Mr. Robins, a teacher here at AUE, contacted a previous student of his and set up a school visit to Gamagori Higashi High School. The trip was interesting. Everyone who went as well as myself had to wake up very early. The school was nice. The lunch they gave to us was really good. I even got to talk to a person from Jamaica. He was there on the JET program. The students had a lot of energy and were fun to interact with. The environment was peaceful and the air was really invigorating. There was a nice view of the local bay as well. I saw many nice boats. After we left the school we went to a nearby shrine that was on an island. Along the way, Mr. Robins pointed out a hotel overlooking the local bay.  He said it was famous. The island was very neat, our group had to walk across a bridge to get to it. When we got to the island I even got to pick up some shells. After our group walked around for some time, we made the trip back.
