Food I have tried so far.

So far in Japan I have visited the many supermarkets around the school. I have seen many brands of food and drink I have never seen before. So have been buying different things to try.  I have also tried some various snack foods as well as a few soft drinks I have never seen before. Calpis soda is really good, it has a good taste too. The various assortment of bread that I have seen is kind of cool. I have seen various brands of normal bread but I have also seen flavor bread, as well as flavored filled bread. An interesting bread I have tried is curry bread. It looks like a soft round doughnut that is filled with curry. It tasted good.

A few days ago, there was a birthday party for one of the residents and they had many kinds of food there which was interesting. One thing that I have never tried before that I tried was beef tongue. It was tasty, it had a nice texture. Also, there was several rice dishes with many things in them. The day after, a girl had a birthday party and she invited me as well as four others to help her celebrate. She had delicious rice dishes. She also made a drink from her homeland that had tapioca pudding in it. The smell was good and it was fun to eat the tapioca.

My Room

I moved my stuff in my room. Its pretty nice, and it has a balcony which is kind of cool. The temperature is cool. I also went to a few supermarkets and found some interesting food. Along the way I saw some interesting sights, for example, huge fields of crops which looked like a pictures you would see in magazines.

The campus itself is quite impressive, every building as multiple ways out which is kind of cool. The other people I met have been really nice. It has been interesting to explore and see new things.

Airplane

I woke up ready to go to the Indianapolis international airport and so I put my bags into the the car. Once I arrived at the airport, dragging all of the luggage was very tiring but it got done. After getting into the airport and pass the light show bridge, a very nice employee helped me check in because I didn’t know the process of traveling internationally very well. After that was done, I walked around the airport with my mom and we ate at McDonalds. After eating, Starbucks seemed like a very good choice, so we ordered Starbucks. Then after I went through airport security, I walked to my airplane to go to Chicago. The ride to Chicago was a very short one, the pilot even told us this over the intercom, which was amusing.

When I arrived in Chicago, I got to see the inside of the O’Hare International Airport. This airport is very huge. Once I found concourse C, I traveled to this concourse by way of this very neat underground tunnel. I got to also see a light show that kind of reminded me of the light show at the Indianapolis International airport. I ate a meal at the airport and then waited for my flight to Japan.

The flight to Japan was very interesting. I met a lot of very nice people. The meals were really good as were the movies. I watched Iron Man 2, The Bourne Trilogy. The flight attendants were really nice, they even gave some words of encouragement. I found that getting to choose which movies I wanted to watch was really nice. The views of Japan from the sky was neat.

When I got to Narita International I saw some neat welcome signs. I also had to go through immigration which was pretty easy. This airport was huge and I saw this interesting mascot statue for this shop. I was able to find my plane to Nagoya after going up this big escalator. The plane ride was really nice and I met some interesting people on the plane.

After getting to Nagoya, I met Mrs. Yasutake and I stayed at her place for the night because I arrived late. She is really nice. I got to meet her husband. I also got to try some snack food and watch a Japanese baseball game. Mrs. Yasutake let me call home to let my parents know I arrived in Japan. After this, I went to sleep because I was tired.

The Night Before…

As the time counts down to the departure of my flight, I am double checking to make sure I have everything I want to bring along with me. I am looking forward to visiting Japan as well as the prospect of making friends and testing my new camera out as well. This is going to be a fun experience and I am looking forward to being able to begin this adventure.

Preparations

I am so excited to be able to go to Japan. As I count down the days and prepare for what is to come, I have double checked everything to make sure I haven’t forgotten anything important. Another thing I am proud about is I was able to find a plane ticket to where I am going in Japan for under $750 dollars. This is something to take note of because I have seen other tickets going for as much as $900 to over $1000 dollars. Something that I was very happy to have been able to do, before I left, was I was able to talk to some students from AUE who came to Ball State. As each day progresses ever so closer to the day I leave, my excitement about getting to study abroad in Japan keeps growing. All I can do for now, since I have all of my things packed and ready to go, is to try to patiently wait and look forward to the fun adventures waiting for me.
