Gifu, Nagoya Port, Hiroshima

After going to Nagano, I planned a few more trips for March. The first of my trips, so far, was going to Gifu. Gifu is a pretty town. The castle was at the top of a mountain and because of the weather that day I had to walk to the top of the mountain. Along the way I met two nice people and we walked to the top. Afterwards they invited me to lunch with them. The lunch was really good. The place we ate was really nice, I am glad I went. Afterwards, we went to this temple- like place that had a giant Buddha statue in it, I thought it was kind of cool. After that I left Gifu. A station I stopped at had a mos burger in it and I thought that would be a good thing to try. It was really good. After that I got back on the train and went back to AUE.

The next trip I planned was to Nagoya Port. This place is very nice. I saw some interesting things here. I went to the aquarium and saw many different types of aquatic animals. The sea turtles were huge. It was really awesome to see this place. Afterwards I saw this Japanese icebreaker ship called Fuji. This ship was pretty cool. Lastly, I got to go to the top of an observatory. From this vantage point I got great pictures of the surrounding area. After awhile, I got on the train and headed back to AUE.

After going to Nagoya Port, I planned a trip to Hiroshima. I got up early in the morning and went to Nagoya. From Nagoya, I bought a shinkansen ticket to Hiroshima. The trip was impressive. When I reached Hiroshima, I got on a cable car and made my way to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. This place was very interesting to go and see. There was so much to see. I even got to meet a survivor and he showed me a book that even proved it. After seeing everything, I went to Hiroshima Castle. This was a huge place, the castle had good views of the city. I saw some very cool samurai armor. After that, I went to shukkeien garden. It was a nice place. I even tried some Momiji ramune. It was pretty good. I also tried some Momiji manju. The momiji manju was really good. After I checked into where I was staying for the night I went to explore downtown Hiroshima. There where a lot of shops in this shopping district I found. I even saw a street performer, who acted like a robot. Also, I found a shop that had four floors dedicated to Oconomiyaki and so I tried some to see what Hiroshima-style Oconomiyaki is like. It was really good. After a while, I went back to my room and went to sleep.

The next day I went to Miyajima island. This place was pretty cool. It has a red torii gate which, at hide tide, looks like its floating on the water. On the island also exist a lot of wild deer. The people at the ferry port even warned everyone that they may eat your papers or the things you buy. The deer didn’t bother me, some of them even let me take their picture. I found this mountain trail that took me over an hour to walk to the top of the mountain. The view from the top was really nice, well worth the walk. After coming down from the mountain, I tried some local food, saw some more of the island, and then got back on the ferry to the mainland and from there made my way back to AUE. It was a good trip, I am glad I went to Hiroshima to see it in person.
