School Visit

This past friday I got to visit a Japanese school. Professor Robins, who is the teacher of one of my classes, talked to a former student of his, who is also a teacher, and set it up. So, another student and myself got on the bus from AUE, on friday, and traveled to the last station on the bus’s route. When we arrived at the station the teacher picked us up and drove us the rest of the way to the school. The school is on top of a hill and has some really nice views of the surrounding area. The structure of the classes was different from what I have seen in America which was interesting. After the first class I went to was over, the teacher took a group photo of the class. I saw outside of the classrooms are these big sinks. Additionally, the teachers office’s are all in one big room. I also got to try a school lunch while I was there, it was really good. The food was brought to the students by these people wearing all white. The students would push the desks together into groups and place a table cloth over the desks and then on top you would place your food, then you would sit down and eat. After lunch, the class I was in invited me to play a game of dodgeball. The teachers and any staff that were around also joined in this game of dodgeball, and both sides played very seriously. After the last class, a student went to the front and did end of the day announcements. During this time, other students contributed when they where called upon. After school was out, the teacher was nice enough to drive us back to AUE. I think it was a neat experience that I got to visit this school.
